Albert EinsteinBrainBoost Education is looking for an enthusiastic Math and Science Tutor, starting September 4th 2018, who is passionate about teaching young people and developing their confidence in learning.

You will be one of the core staff of the daytime teaching team and need to be confident in your ability to tutor Math and Sciences at elementary and junior high school level (grades 5-10). Solid subject knowledge and the ability to connect with students of all learning styles is absolutely essential to be considered for employment.

This is a full time position at 40 hours per week. You will teach approximately 30 sessions in a week (scheduled between 10am and 6pm) with the rest of your time devoted to session preparation, skill building, and attending staff inservices and meetings.

BrainBoost Education promotes, develops and delivers unique learning experiences tailored to students seeking additional learning support, as well as those who may not be accommodated in traditional educational settings. The one-to-one tutoring and ATS (Alternative to School) program provide safe spaces for students and tutors/teachers to come together and work toward specific learning goals in an inclusive community and in ways that are relevant to the student. BrainBoost designs experiences that challenge, inspire, and match the student’s learning style and personality. We are located on West Broadway near Blenheim in Kitsilano.

You are an individual who has:
-excitement for teaching Math and Sciences and a desire to have a positive impact on a student’s relationship with knowledge
-experience tutoring Math grades 5-10
-experience teaching Science grades 5-10
-experience working with students who may experience learning challenges
-knowledge of BC curriculum (an asset)
-experience working with students aged 10-16 years
-the ability to be self-reflective

We will trust you to :
-work one-to-one (and potentially in small groups) with students
-create/prepare materials to infuse the curriculum with relevance and interest
-file reports on the progress of students and tutoring sessions
-seek and respond to feedback from students and case managers

Our compensation range and benefits encompass :
-Starting wage of $875-$975 per week (depending on your education and experience) for the 36 weeks of the school year (September 4th- June 14th, excluding Christmas and Spring breaks )
