Outdoor Adventures

Does the word exercise bring to mind running around in a circle on a gravel track in the rain? Never fear!?In this POD, you?ll discover a new take on ?exercise? as an?adventure for the body and mind. First we’ll establish a foundation by answering burning questions like: How does the human body work? Why is movement so vital to its proper functioning? Next,?we?ll explore various types of movements, learning proper technique to both strengthen and relax the body and safe use of props and equipment. Finally, and in tandem with students’ interests, we’ll play a variety of games, go on field trips,?explore nearby parks, playgrounds, and have fun.? Come join in as we leave the classroom and get moving outside!? You might just forget this is exercise.

Your Teacher – Caitlin Leahy

Caitlin, a born-and-raised North Vancouverite, graduated from UBC with a degree in Cell Biology, Genetics, and Math. From coaching soccer to tutoring a variety of after-school programs at Vancouver schools, Caitlin has found herself in the BrainBoost community and loves it! As tutor at BrainBoost, Caitlin helps students to discover and strengthen their abilities by providing open opportunities for learning. Nearly everything activates her sense of humour, so if you hear a cackly laugh, it?s probably Caitlin. When Caitlin?s not tutoring, you will likely find her outside climbing or cycling, inside watching documentaries, or trying to solve extreme sudoku puzzles.
